Perfect Couple Blog Tour Excerpt & Giveaway

1/08/2015

About the Book:
Perfect Couple is #2 in the Superlatives series about seniors at a Florida high school who are selected for their class's superlative categories in the yearbook, and how the labels change the way they view themselves and alter the course of their lives.

Can your heart be put to a popular vote?

As yearbook photographer, Harper is responsible for capturing those candid moments that make high school memorable. But her own life is anything but picture perfect. Her parents' bitter divorce has left her wondering what a loving relationship would look like. And ever since the senior class voted her and star quarterback Brody the “Perfect Couple That Never Was,” her friends have been on her case to ask Brody out.

Brody doesn’t lack in female admirers, but Harper can't see herself with him. He seems confused about why they were matched together, too. They’re total opposites—the last people in the world who would ever be compatible, let alone the “perfect couple.” Yet ever since the class paired the two of them, they've found themselves drawn together--first by curiosity, then by an undeniable bond.

The trouble is, though they're very attracted to each other and both of them admit this, they have a hard time getting along or even communicating clearly. If they’re the perfect couple, this shouldn’t be so difficult! Soon it becomes clear their class was wrong, and they throw in the towel. But after they walk away, both of them feel so changed from making the effort that they can’t forget each other. What if that means this match made in hell is the perfect couple after all?

Excerpt:
"Maybe it's you, not what you're saying. You make Grace nervous."

"Why would I make her nervous?" Brody grumbled.

Say it. Say it. Say it. Tell the truth.  I felt like I was jumping off a cliff as I said it: "Because you're very attractive.  Maybe when you get as closer to her as you are to me right now, she forgets what she was talking about."

It was a big, brazen mouthful, and after I'd gotten it out, I felt my cheeks turn bright red in the heat.  I stared up at the vaulted ceiling as if it was very interesting.

Something touched my neck.  I nearly put up a hand to brush away a bug.  But the touch was Brody's fingertips smoothing along my skin, back and forth across my collarbone.

"Waiting On" Wednesday (#72) The Notorious Pagan Jones (Pagan Jones #1) by Nina Berry

1/07/2015

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm picking:

The Notorious Pagan Jones (Pagan Jones #1) by

Expected publication: May 26th 2015 by Harlequin Teen

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23280190-the-notorious-pagan-jones

From Goodreads:

Pagan Jones went from America's sweetheart to fallen angel in one fateful night in 1960: the night a car accident killed her whole family. Pagan was behind the wheel and driving drunk. Nine months later, she's stuck in the Lighthouse Reformatory for Wayward Girls and tortured by her guilt—not to mention the sadistic Miss Edwards, who takes special delight in humiliating the once-great Pagan Jones.

But all of that is about to change. Pagan's old agent shows up with a mysterious studio executive, Devin Black, and an offer. Pagan will be released from juvenile detention if she accepts a juicy role in a comedy directed by award-winning director Bennie Wexler. The shoot starts in West Berlin in just three days. If Pagan's going to do it, she has to decide fast—and she has to agree to a court-appointed "guardian," the handsome yet infuriating Devin, who's too young, too smooth, too sophisticated to be some studio flack.

The offer's too good to be true, Berlin's in turmoil and Devin Black knows way too much about her—there's definitely something fishy going on. But if anyone can take on a divided city, a scheming guardian and the criticism of a world that once adored her, it's the notorious Pagan Jones. What could go wrong?

Why I'm Waiting:

This looks really intriguing.  I don't always love historical fiction, but this one looks awesome enough to give it a chance.  I love the idea of a fallen star trying to find redemption.

Top Ten Most Anticipated Debut Novels For 2015

I get so excited by the idea of debut novels.  I try to read as many as I can, and I have discovered some great authors along the way.  There were so many debuts that I am looking forward to, I decided to limit this to books where there was a cover, even if that cover may change.  See the honorable mentions after the list, for those books that look AWESOME, but just don't have cover art yet.  Here are the debut books I'm looking forward to in 2015.

This looks sufficiently creepy and yet awesome. I am also intrigued by the comparisons to If I Stay and the Maze Runner.

Expected publication: June 9th 2015 by St. Martin's Griffin

Usually when books are compared to my favorites, I have a bit of hesitancy, but this one hits so many of my buttons.  I love books about Music, Boarding Schools and foreign countries.  This one has it all.

Expected publication: June 9th 2015 by Simon Pulse

I can't wait to read this one.  I love a good contemporary, and this one looks like it will fit the bill.  I love the idea of finding redemption for a past mistake.

The description compares it to some pretty specatcular authors, if it delivers even partially on what it promises, then I will love it.

How absolutely creepy yet awesome is that cover?  Not just that but the description makes me want to pick up a copy now.

Expected publication: May 12th 2015 by Putnam Juvenile

There are a lot of debuts that I am excited about, but when I read the description of this one I wanted it in my hands RIGHT now.  This was a hell yes, and very well might be my most anticipated.

I have burned by so many books that use Sarah Dessen as a comparison, and yet it almost always works to get me to read the book.  I like the idea behind this one, and it looks like it may be similar to Last Year's Mistake, which I am also looking forward to.  I clearly have a type.

I featured this as a WoW a few months ago, and my anticipation for this book has not lessened at all.  If anything I am even more excited to read it.

Expected publication: March 17th 2015 by Dial

Based on the description I am super excited to read this book.  It does seem very reminiscent of This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith, and I loved that book so I have high hopes for this one.

2015 by Simon Pulse

I love the idea of this history reimagined story.  This may end up being awful or awesome.  I can't wait to find out which one it is.

Honorable Mentions:

These don't have a cover yet, and sometimes the description is sparse, but what is there looks awesome:
