Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR

When putting this list together, I realized that we never did a winter TBR which kind of makes me sad.  These are some of my favorite types of lists.  As always I am limiting this list to books that are published between the spring equinox and the summer solstice.  So those released between March 20th and June 19th.

Expected publication: May 3rd 2016 by Disney-Hyperion

I love Hawaii. I had heard some great things and always thought it would be overrated, until I went. I've actually been there twice and each time was just awesome. Between the book taking place in Hawaii and the fact that it reminds me of one of my favorite books from long ago, I can't wait to read this book.

Expected publication: April 26th 2016 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

I've read pretty much everything Siobhan Vivian has written, so this book easily ends up on this list.  I love the description of this book, and it looks like it will be an awesome romance.

Expected publication: May 3rd 2016 by HarperTeen

Is this the last one? Please? I thought I was done with this series, but then another book came out, and then this one.  I have such a love hate relationship with this series that I just need it to be over. Even so, here it is on my spring TBR list.

Expected publication: April 5th 2016 by Razorbill

I didn't read her last YA book, but I kind I want to give this book a chance. It seems like it will be pretty outside my comfort zone, but it's Richelle Mead, so it makes this list of books I plan to read this spring.

Expected publication: May 10th 2016 by Dial Books

I think John Corey Whaley is an amazing author, so I am expecting good things for this book. His books are often so funny and yet so touching, they make you have all the feels, and I hoping for the same from this story.

Expected publication: April 5th 2016 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Emery Lord is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She has been writing some tremendous contemporary romance. At this point, any book she writes is going to end up on my must read list.

Expected publication: June 7th 2016 by HarperTeen

Confession, I'm not a big historical fiction fan, which is strange because I was a history major and I use to inhale historical romances. I still have a soft spot for Johanna Lindsey. That being said, this book is way out of my comfort zone, but I love these authors, so I am really looking forward to this book.

Expected publication: April 5th 2016 by G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers

I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this fun series.  Rachel Hawkins is one of my favorite authors, so I am trusting that she will wrap this series up right.

Expected publication: May 31st 2016 by Dial Books

Another book that looks to be a bit outside my comfort zone.  Jenn Marie Thorne published on of my favorite books from last year, and I can't wait to see if this book is just as good.

Expected publication: May 3rd 2016 by Simon & Schuster

Whenever I get sad that Sarah Dessen only publishes a book every other year, I console myself that on those year Morgan Matson will have a book out to tide me over. She is a great contemporary writer, and I always look forward to what she puts out.

Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn't

This list is always so depressing.  I read a ton of books last year, but they weren't what I planned to read or anticipated reading. Last year I did pretty well in using this list and going back and reading the 2014 books I missed out on, so I am hopeful I can still read many of these.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24644814-see-how-they-run

In my defense this came out at the very end of the year, so I only had a few days to read it. I will most likely be reading it by the end of January.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24751478-soundless

I really wanted to read this book, but I heard so many mixed reviews, it stopped being a priority.  I do hope to get to it eventually.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23453083-trust-me-i-m-trouble

I enjoyed the first book, and I have no good reason why I didn't read this second one. I don't know if I'm going to get to it this year either.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23734628-carry-on

It's Rainbow Rowell, I have no good reason why I didn't read this book.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22715908-cold-burn-of-magic

I adored her last YA series, and I was really looking forward to starting this series, for some reason I never got around to it.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23281943-deadly-design

This one is the one I have the most guilt about. The publisher sent me a finished copy, but I had so many ebooks to read and review, I never got a chance to get to this one. I really need to make it a priority.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22836576-the-death-code

This is another book where I enjoyed the first book in the series and had every intention of continuing to read it, I just didn't get a chance.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23310751-first-then

I love a good contemporary book, and I heard so many amazing things about this one.  I just never got to it.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22736613-hold-me-closer

I really wanted to read the continuing adventures of Tiny Cooper, I just never found the time.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23310763-the-anatomical-shape-of-a-heart

It's got everything I love in a book and I should have made the time for it.  I do want to read it this year.

Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases For The First Half of 2016

I was on vacation last week and didn't get to post this, and since I am terrible at resolutions, I am going back and posting this list.  I love that the list gets split between the first and second half of the year.  I agree with the logic, the books that come out later in the year just don't get the love.  Here are the books that I am most anticipating that will be published between January 1st through June 30th.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23308084-the-rose-and-the-dagger
Expected publication: May 3rd 2016 by Putnam Juvenile

The first book in this series was my favorite of last year, so it stands to reason, this is my most anticipated book this year.  I want a copy of it NOW.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25022128-inferno
Expected publication: January 7th 2016 by Chicken House

I liked the first book in this series, so I am looking forward to the second. Full disclose, I will probably have to go refresh my memory on the first book, but the Romeo and Juliette factor of this series has me intrigued.

Expected publication: April 26th 2016 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Siobhan Vivian, wrote one of my all time favorite books, so I will always eagerly anticipate any future books she writes.

Expected publication: April 5th 2016 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Emery Lord is becoming one of my go-to authors when I want an awesome contemporary read.  All her books are just so well done.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25518205-lady-renegades
Expected publication: April 12th 2016 by G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers

I can't wait to find out how this final book in the series turns out.  I've really enjoyed this series so far. Between the kick butt heroine, the paranormal element, and the humor that are a trademark f Rachel Hawkins' books, this one is a must read.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26074181-the-crown
Expected publication: May 3rd 2016 by HarperTeen

My love/hate relationship with this series will continue as I read this next (final?) installment in the series. If the series does last much longer, we may have to break up though.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27272506-the-glittering-court
Expected publication: April 5th 2016 by Razorbill

I love Richelle Mead, so this book is a must read for me. This may also be one of my favorite covers of any of her YA books, so that always helps.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26109391-highly-illogical-behavior
Expected publication: May 10th 2016 by Dial Books

I finally read a JCW book this past year, and it was pretty awesome. That means this book becomes one of the most anticipated books for me.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23174274-glass-sword
Expected publication: February 9th 2016 by HarperTeen

I read the first book in the series pretty late in the year, pretty much when I saw it popping up on so many people best books of 2015 lists.  I can't wait to read where the story goes next.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17302879-remembrance
Expected publication: February 2nd 2016 by William Morrow

The lone adult book on my list. But really it's kind of a fake adult book since it continues a YA series. Either way I can't wait to see what these characters are up to.

Top Ten Tuesday (#117) (12/22/15) Top Ten Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree This Year

12/22/2015

Top Ten Nine Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree This Year

This is really hard because other than ARCs, I have tried to avoid bringing in more print books.  I just don't have enough shelves to hold all my books.  So this list is more along the lines of books I wouldn't mind Santa magically delivering to my Kindle.

I have the print ARC of this, but I don't have a finished copy. It was so beautiful that I want to revisit as often as I can, so I seeing this under my tree wouldn't be a bad thing.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18798983-the-wrath-and-the-dawn

My favorite book of this year, another book where I have a print ARC, but a finished copy would not be turned away.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25657130-all-american-boys

My second favorite book of this year, I would love to get a copy of this.  I checked it out from the library, but I really would love to read it again.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24644814-see-how-they-run

This comes out today, so Santa can just drop that copy off right about now.  I had some issues with the first book, but I'm hoping the second book will better.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23734628-carry-on

I don't own this in any form and I since I love Rainbow Rowell, I would love to have a copy of this book.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24751478-soundless

No reason in particular, I just love Richelle Mead's books, and I don't own this in any way.  It would beat having to check it out from the library.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23009402-saint-anything

This is the only Sarah Dessen book I don't own.  Therefore it needs a place on my shelf.  This is the only book I actually want the print copy more than the ebook.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16035147-silent-alarm

Another book I wanted to read this year that was never available as an ebook from the library.  I would love to get a copy from Santa.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17378508-blue-lily-lily-blue?ac=1&from_search=1

I can't believe I still haven't read this book, if I owned it maybe I would get around to reading it.

Top Ten Tuesday (#113) (10/27/15) Top Ten Books with Things that Go Bump in the Night

Top Ten Books with Things that Go Bump in the Night

Vampires, Zombies, Ghosts, and Witches, oh my! I don't read a lot of scary books, because I can be a total wimp.  However, I have read a lot of books that feature the above paranormal creates.  These books aren't necessarily scary, but they do feature beings that you are likely going to see at a Halloween party.  Well, in addition to all those lame sexy kitties.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8475747-hex-hall

This series features a bit of everything, I guess it's mainly witches, but there are special guest appearances by shapeshifters and other fun paranormal creatures. Not scary at all, just a good read.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9802372-the-name-of-the-star

This book is pretty creepy.  More suspenseful than true horror, but the spooky is really there.  The first book has been my favorite in the series.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11969941-the-unquiet

This book probably gave me the biggest creeps.  It's just a really good spooky ghost story.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/187811.Shadowland

Lots of ghosts in this series.  Some are good and many are bad. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of some of these ghosts.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6068551-shiver

Werewolves.  Not scary werewolves, just beautifully written werewolves.  I loved this series.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3.Harry_Potter_and_the_Sorcerer_s_Stone

I would hardly describe this series of witches scary.  I guess for the intended audience the later books can be scary, but this awesome series makes the list because of all the witches and paranormal creatures.

My Love Lies Bleeding (Drake Chronicles #1) by Alyxandra Harvey

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/345627.Vampire_Academy

An awesome series featuring very not scary vampires.  Vampires!  They're just like you and me, except they like blood.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11300302-alice-in-zombieland

Just finished this series, and it's good zombie fun.  I wouldn't classify this book as scary either, it just kick zombie butt fun.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12043771-this-is-not-a-test

This book was scary if only because it made me realize I will so NEVER survive a zombie apocalypse.  Nope, I will quickly join the ranks of the undead. I found this book to be very suspenseful, but not particularly scary.

Bonus:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9917996-salem-s-lot

I have read some really scary books in the past that scared me badly. Stephen King is most responsible for many of my nightmares.  After too many bad nights of sleep, I now tend to avoid his books, as awesome as they may be.  That being said, for me the book of his that scared me the most was 'Salem's Lot.  I slept with some weird stuff by my side for weeks after I read that book.  This is not a YA book, although I was stupid enough to read it while I was in high school, so I decided to include it.
