Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

This one is hard because I got way behind on my reading this past year.  I read less then half of what I read in 2013,  and I'm blaming the baby.  Here are the new to me authors that I did read.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/1229281.Jason_Reynolds https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17428880-when-i-was-the-greatest

Love, Love, Loved this book.  The picture is after I read the book and totally fan-girled him at ALA last summer.  Not only is the book amazing, but he's pretty great too.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6456912.Heather_Demetrios https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15789443-something-real

I was unsure about reading this book at first, but it turned out to be so much better than I expected.  I thought it was engaging and thoughtful.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/125253.Stasia_Ward_Kehoe https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17987215-the-sound-of-letting-go

I don't read much books written in verse, but I should probably read more of them, because those that I have read are beautiful.  This one is no exception.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/11466.Markus_Zusak https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1118668.The_Book_Thief

Took me FOREVER to read this book.  I really felt like I was one of the only people in America who hadn't read it.  It was pretty amazing.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4086715.Kendare_Blake https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13246736-antigoddess

Another author I am ashamed I hadn't read before this year.  I've been meaning to read Anna Dressed in Blood for forever, and I will get to it eventually, but in the meantime, I really enjoyed this one.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6553850.Emery_Lord https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17978160-open-road-summer

I loved this book, it was so beautifully written. The characters and the story were so memorable. I look forward to reading so many more books from her in the future.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6925957.Mary_Elizabeth_Summer https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17341550-trust-me-i-m-lying

A nice twist on the genre, it was well written and kept me entertained.  I found the characters to be likable, and the author is pretty unafraid of angering readers by tossing in an unexpected twist, so I actually find that to be refreshing.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6549281.Bethany_Neal https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18465608-my-last-kiss

This one was very reminiscent of Before I Fall, but it had a interesting difference.  I thought it was really well done.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/5749310.Bethany_Hagen https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17350916-landry-park

Yes it's another dystopian, but I found it to be a good twist on it. I look forward to the next book to see how the story plays out.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4254441.Cat_Patrick https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17190935-just-like-fate

Another author where I'm a little late to the party.  I found this book to be really well done, and made me think.

Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls by
Expected publication: July 7th 2015 by Simon Pulse

From Goodreads:

Gone Girl meets 13 Reasons Why in this stylish, sexy, and atmospheric story about friendship packed with twists and turns that will leave you breathless.

They say Delia burned herself to death in her stepfather's shed. They say it was suicide.

But June doesn't believe it.

June and Delia used to be closer than anything. Best friends in that way that comes before everyone else; before guys, before family. It was like being in love, but more. They had a billion secrets, tying them together like thin silk cords.

But one night a year ago, everything changed. June, Delia, and June's boyfriend Ryan were just having a little fun. Their good time got out of hand. And in the cold blue light of morning, June knew only this; things would never be the same again.

And now, a year later, Delia is dead. June is certain she was murdered. And she owes it to her to find out the truth; which is far more complicated than she ever could have imagined.

Sexy, dark, and atmospheric, Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Why I'm Waiting:

I love a good mystery, and this one looks like it will be awesome.  I absolutely love the cover of this one, and the title makes me want to start reading it now.

Top Ten Books I'm Looking Forward To In 2015

As always, my want to read pile is much larger than my able to read pile.  Even so, there are a ton of books I'm looking forward to in 2015.  Some of them I covered in last week's post, but here are some others.  I am also going to leave off the sequels and debuts, which I will cover at a later date.

Books on this issue are so important, and Courtney Summers is a terrific writer so I have high hopes for this book.

Expected publication: April 28th 2015 by K-Teen

I have always been pretty vocal about how much I enjoyed her Mythos Academy books, and so I am willing to give this new series a chance.  I hope I love it just as much.

Expected publication: May 5th 2015 by Viking Juvenile

This was my WoW for last week and with good reason.  If I were only allowed to read one book that publishes in 2015 it would be this one. I trust anything that Sarah Dessen writes, and this one is no exception.

Expected publication: March 31st 2015 by Bloomsbury

I absolutely loved her debut, so I am sure I will love this book just as much.  Every time I read the synopsis, I want to drop everything I'm reading and pick this one up.

I feel like I've been waiting forever for her to write a new book.  From the description, it will be completely different from the Forest of Hands and Teeth trilogy, which if you haven't read you should check out.

Expected publication: March 1st 2015 by Carolrhoda Books

This book looks like it will be beautiful and heartbreaking.  I love the idea of the story and it kind of feels like it has a White Oleander feeling to it.

Expected publication: March 24th 2015 by Algonquin Young Readers

I enjoyed her last book.  It was so fascinating and so well written.  I have high hopes for this one too.  A good ghost story is always welcome.

Expected publication: 2015 by Simon Pulse

How cute does this book look?  I love the idea of modernizing the story of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.  Technically this is a YA debut, and I'm excited to check out her work.

Expected publication: September 1st 2015 by Headline

Obviously this does not have a cover yet, but since Jennifer E. Smith is quickly joining the ranks of my favorite authors, I have to add it to this list.  I can't wait to find out more info about this one.
