Feature & Follow Friday (#25)

9/20/2013

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read.

This week's Question:

What were some of your favorite picture books as a kid? If you have kids, what are your favorites to read to them?

I love this question.  Even as a kid I loved books and loved to read.  Here are some of my favorites from childhood:

Fox in Socks by (My poor dad had to read this to my brother and I constantly)
Where the Wild Things Are by
Where the Sidewalk Ends by
I don't have kids yet, but there are definitely a few favorites that have come out recently.  I actually buy and read tons of picture books, and here are some of my favorites.  My child will be sure to have a copy of these books.

Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons (Pete the Cat) by
I Want My Hat Back by
Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale (Knuffle Bunny #1) by (or really anything by Mo)

  8. Have you read all three Knuffle Bunny books? Working in a Children's Library, I find that some parents don't realize that the saga continues! They're always thrilled to find out (as they should be). I love them so much. I read them all in a row to the kids for a Story Time around Easter-time last year, and I almost cried in front of about 20 kids & their parents. It was a real challenge to keep it together :)
They're so real, and funny, and heart-warming! I can't get enough of Mo Willems. I know everyone's gaga over him, but it's for a good reason. One need only look at the illustration of Trixie going "boneless" for proof, right?

Here's my FF, if you're interested!:

  9. thanks for the book recommendations. I'm always looking for cool children's books for my kids. sometimes I think some of the newer ones aren't as good as maybe, some from when I was younger.

glad to be a new follower :)
