Teaser and Top Ten Tuesday (#2)

3/05/2013

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

From Page, 149
Teaser 1: "But, then again, they were currently strapped in a closet on the thirty-seventh floor of a well-secured high-rise in the middle of the night, so perhaps her judgement was lacking."
Teaser 2: "My mom's a better con artist than I am."

Top Ten Series I Would Like to Start But Haven't Yet

This is actually a great topic for me. I could probably list about 100 series that I haven't read yet, or only read the first book and need to read the others.  But the list is for top 10, so here are mine in no particular order.
I don't know what I'm waiting for.  I've had the first book sitting on my shelf forever.  Plus, I've heard some great things about it.

The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa--Once again, no excuses.  I have the over half the series sitting on my bookshelf.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare--Yet another series where I have the first book, I just haven't gotten to it yet, and people LOVE it.  I have to get to this soon, the movie is coming out any minute.

The Graceling Realm by Kristin Cashore--If you guessed that I have these sitting on my shelf, you would be correct.  All three.

Paranormalcy by --Finally a series I need/want to read, and I don't have the first book. I've still heard great things about it.

Luxe by --Yes I have at least two of these, and I can always read them from the library. I just haven't.  I love the covers.

Anna by --At some point I will get to these, the first two of which I own. Just haven't gotten to it yet.

Goddess Test by --Yes, I own the first three, and no I haven't read them yet.  I love stories based on mythology, and I'll get to these at some point.

The Morganville Vampires #1 by --I actually don't own any of these, but they look awesome and I've always wanted to get to them.

Soul Screamers by --I only own a couple of these, and I've heard great things, I just haven't read any yet.

That's my list of series that I want to read, need to read, and yet I haven't read a single book.  Once again, the list of series that I've started and not finished yet would number at about 30.  And really, narrowing this list down to 10 was hard.  There were some that I really wanted to fit in but didn't have room, some of which I own all the books in the series.  Pathetic.

I feel like I should add some honorable mentions.  These are books that I own more than one book in the series, and haven't started it yet.

    1. You have no idea. I could not buy a book or check anything out from the library, and still have enough books to last me about 6 years.

  10. Graceling and Iron Fey series are both on my list too! I really really need to read Graceling. Everyone has been telling me that today :) Maybe I will get to Iron Fey, but that isn't at the top of my list.

Mortal Instrument series is great. Well, the firs three. I haven't read the newest book yet. I cannot wait for the movie!

  11. I recently started the first book in the The Grisha series, and I am loving it. I've heard some great things about Graceling, though I'm kind of hesitant to start them myself (I have the first two books sitting on my shelves).

  19. Okay, I'm going to tell you right now that you HAVE to read the Across the Universe and Darkest Powers series. Both have made it onto my favorites shelf on Goodreads, which I'm very picky about. I even reread the Darkest Powers series this year-the first reread of a series I've ever done (besides Twilight).

  20. So many good series on your list! Soul Screamers made my list too. Graceling was on my list for years and I finally read it last year and loved it!
