Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
From pg.166 of my ARC*
Eventually the man, with Rhys holding on behind him, takes the lead, and we follow him as he winds through the dusty paths between buildings. I'm grateful for the action, as it gives me a break from thinking, from trying to understand how this place is possible.

Top Ten Favorite Books With a Boarding School Setting
This week the topic was pretty open. Instead of picking 10 different types of settings, I am focusing on just one setting. Some of my favorite books take place in a boarding school, and I will generally give one of these types of books priority.
Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss #1) by Stephanie Perkins
As I have mentioned before, I love this book. It's a boarding school in FRANCE.
Looking for Alaska by John Green
This is just an amazing coming of age story. No spoilers, there is one scene in this book that had me in tears I was laughing so hard.
Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1) by Rachel Hawkins
I love Rachel Hawkins, and this series was just really fun boarding school fun. It's got witches, and wizards, and werewolves. Good times.
Private (Private #1) by Kate Brian
This is such a guilty pleasure series. I am still working my way slowly through it, but total campy fun. Boarding schools, murder, backstabbing. Good times.
Maggie Stiefvater is one of my favorite authors. While very little of the action takes place in an actual school, I am still including it.
Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Yep. Another series I love that takes place in a boarding school for vampires. The first book wasn't my favorite, but as a whole I love this series.
I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls #1) by Ally Carter
While appealing to a younger audience, this series is still a really good time. I highly recommend it.
A classic. One of my all-time favorite series.
The Name of the Star (Shades of London #1) by Maureen Johnson
I loved the first book, didn't love the second. Still, it's a boarding school in London. Love it.
Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy #1) by Jennifer Estep
A boarding school for kids that are decedents of mythological gods and others? Awesome. I love this series.
I love the Vampire Academy series (although I have to agree with you, the first book was not my favorite). Anna and the French Kiss--love it! I need to read the Mythos Academy, I keep hearing good things. Great list! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteI love this setting, I almost picked it for today, I would have put Raven Boys, Hex Hall, and Gallagher Girls on my list too! Great picks!

There are a lot of awesome boarding school books at the moment, and you picked some great books. I haven't read all of them, but I'll have to check those I haven't out. Anna and the French Kiss, Hex Hall, The Raven Boys, Vampire Academy and Harry Potter are all brilliant books and great picks.
ReplyDeleteNice selection! You included a few that others aren't thinking of. Enjoy your week reading.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever read Charlotte Sometimes? I think it might be considered MG, or maybe lower YA, by today's standards. It's about an English girl at boarding school, who finds herself periodically going back in time to 1918, where she's a girl everyone calls Clare.
ReplyDeleteAnna and Vampire Academy are two of my fave books! I really want to read Looking For Alaska, embarrassingly I've never read any John Green.
ReplyDeleteI keep wanting to start the Mythos Academy series! I keep checking it out from the library but never get around to reading it. And I read book 1 of the gallagher series. Its not my favorite but it ended up being decent. And I really want to read Hex Hall still!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT!
Great list. My favorite boarding school reads are Harry Potter and Blue is for Nightmares.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
Good list, I love Looking for Alaska, Gallagher Girls and Hex Hall as well.
ReplyDeleteLove the boarding school theme! Also, I'm reading The Dream Thieves right now, so The Raven Boys is the best pick ever!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably one of those who haven't read Harry Potter. But I'm not really huge fan of MG book but I'm closing any doors. I might try them soon. I've read some of the books you've selected, I loved Raven Boys, Anna & Hex Hall. Awesome picks. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by. :)
